We wanted the brand to feel rooted in the actual colours and materials used in traditional kopitiams, the deep green, the recognisable tilework, intriciate metalwork done on window grills, classic wooden furniture; but with a sense of modernity and playfulness.&nbsp; KL to BLR The logo itself uses a chubby vintage serif, surrounded by grillwork, centred around an icon representing Malaysia’s national flower, the hibiscus.Extending the iconography, we introduced a fun little chicken motif, popularly used in Chinese ceramics, and several illustrations in an etched style across uniforms and media. We even write and create our own newspaper issues to give people something to read while sipping their morning kopi! LICK was an attempt to recapture that childhood wonder, from the vibrant building itself, with playful art across its walls, to innovative products, and striking packaging, everything was designed to feel bold, unusual, and most of all, to spark joy. Outlive is an initiative that works with both institutions and government, develops educational resources, builds tools, and holds events to build awareness around suicide, and remove the associated taboos that prevent people from getting help. Even with the eventually positive outcome, the pain and societal repurcussions of the law would outlast the law itself. With that in mind we wanted to create imagery that would feel celebratory but also unnerving. Their debut album A Strange Connection is a heady mix of 80s sounds and current production styles. This blend of retro and modern lent itself perfectly to a piece of art that is at once nostalgic and alien, simple and complex. The decision to create a paper sculpture as a piece of album art came about because people have always loved physical products from their favourite musicians. Owning these casettes and CDs were tangible and memorable, but with the world of music embracing digital publishing, very few people have access to physical media players. So rather than sell a shiny plastic coaster, we decided to offer a digital download of the music across popular services, and together with paper magician Dhvani Shah create a gorgeous physical representation of the album with moving parts that reveals the tracklist as you turn the dial.
